Company wants waste-burning thermal facility

Last week, Norfolk councillors heard a deputation from a firm that wants to build a thermal processing facility in the Nanticoke Industrial Park. Mr Trevor Pettit representing Terra VOX said the company required a five-acre site, preferably in the Nanticoke Industrial Park, and would need 1,000 tons of waste per day It is expected that 200 to 300 full time trade jobs would be created within two years of start-up. Mr Pettit said the company already has a Memorandum of Understanding with Oxford County and he believes Haldimand County will commit, A facility currently exists in Brampton and one has been approved for York-Durham. The counties would pay per ton to divert their waste to the facility for processing. County staff was directed to continue research with the company
