Port Dover Maple Leaf: Sound Off and Response - June 17 & 24, 2009
June 17, 2009
I just read the article in the Maple Leaf by Toby Barrett concerning nuclear energy and so forth. I would urge people who read the Maple Leaf to do their homework carefully. It has certainly been my experience from what I’ve read and people I’ve talked to that nuclear energy is quite safe and the disposal of waste is not a serious problem. Another interesting thing is that the French seem to have this down pat. They have, I believe, 73 nuclear plants they are all identical. So if there is a problem, for example, with a valve they go to all 73 plants and replace that particular valve. If we would adopt a similar policy in Canada, I think we could benefit tremendously from using nuclear energy.
